Visual effects supervisor Jake Braver added in John’s beloved Indianapolis airport. The movie was set in Indianapolis but mostly filmed in Pittsburgh. John was allowed to keep all of his clothes from the role. John made a cameo in The Fault in Our Stars as Girl’s Father…but his scene was cut! You can find his Hollywood moment in the deleted scenes.
The same team would go on to adapt John’s book Paper Towns the following year starring Nat Wolff in the lead role. Fox 2000, Temple Hill, and TSG Entertainment co-produced the movie. The film stars Shailene Woodley as Hazel Grace Lancaster, Ansel Elgort as Augustus Waters, Willem Dafoe as Peter van Houten, Nat Wolff as Isaac, and Laura Dern as Hazel’s mom.
